Edible label applicator

HomeEdible label applicator

Automate bread labelling and achieve production stability

The ideal solution for bakeries that want to control their technology while saving time and operating costs.

The edible label applicator allows you to label 100% of your production - quickly, accurately and without manual intervention.

You'll save on labour costs, speed up processes and gain full control over the labelling of each loaf.

What you get with the Applicator labelling automation:

Labour cost savings

You replace routine manual work with reliable technology. Reduce the number of operators required per shift and improve capacity utilisation.

Production stability

The machine marks every product the same way - without breaks, downtime or variation. You can be sure that 100% of your products will be marked, even if you are short-staffed.

Faster marking process

Automation speeds up the entire production flow. Labels are applied without delay and at a constant speed.

Easy integration into the line

The applicator can be easily integrated into new and existing production lines. No major technical changes are required.

Growth without recruitment

You can handle higher volumes without the need for additional shifts or staff. The ideal solution for bakeries that want to grow efficiently and sustainably.

Options for placing the Applicator in the production line

Our edible label applicator can be easily integrated into most semi-automatic and automatic bread production lines. We choose the location according to the specific layout of your line and technological flow.

  1. Behind the moulding machine, in front of the proofing baskets

The label is applied to the unleavened dough just before it is placed in the baskets.

Advantage: easy to install, the label “bakes” into the dough during the rising process.

  2. After the proofer – on a single-row belt conveyor

The dough pieces travel in a row on a narrow belt. Application takes place before baking.

Advantage: smooth operation, easy synchronisation of application with belt movement.

  3. After the proofer – on a multi-lane belt conveyor

After rising, the dough is placed side by side on a wide belt (multi-lane arrangement). The applicator moves on a mobile axis above the row of dough and applies the labels.

Advantage: stable position of the dough.

The applicator is modular and can be adapted to your operation – whether you produce in a single row or on a wide conveyor with several loaves at the same time.

Application principle

  • The label is mechanically pressed into the dough
  • Reliable function even in multi-shift operation and with variable dough shapes
  • The label is “baked” into the loaf during the subsequent baking phase

Number of application units

  • Possibility to equip one or more application units depending on belt width and required capacity
  • Scalable solution for single and multi-row belt arrangements

Technical Specification of the Applicator

1. Dimensions:

  • Applicator (labeling head only): 96 × 36 × 105 cm (with a magazine for 1,000 labels)
  • System with linear axis (required clearance around production line):
    • Side with access to the Applicator (for control and label change):
      • Depth: 130 cm
      • Along the line: 100 cm
    • Side with control cabinet:
      • Depth: 110 cm
      • Along the line: 100 cm
    • Height above conveyor: 120 cm (with a 1,000-label magazine)
  • Static version – Applicator on a stand (no axis movement):
    • Depth: 60 cm
    • Along the line: 90 cm

2. Weight:

  • Applicator (labeling head only): 65 kg

3. Performance:

  • Continuous mode: 4,500 labeled dough pieces / hour
  • Cyclic mode (labeling in batches of 6–8 doughs per row / proofer stepping):
    • 1,700 to 2,100 pcs / hour
    • Depends on synchronization and timing of the proofer and subsequent conveyors

4. Magazines:

  • Capacity: 1,000 to 1,500 pcs per label magazine
  • Magazine replacement: 10 to 30 seconds

5. Line Integration:

  • Independent mode:
    • Applicator operates autonomously, triggered by dough detection, without requiring integration with the line’s control system.
  • Integrated with production line:
    • When labeling by rows (6–8 doughs), communicates with line control system via binary signals (e.g. “apply”, “wait”)
    • Applicator sends feedback signals such as “labeling completed”, “label magazine replacement required”, or “parking”

6. Control:

  • Operated via Weintek HMI panel with simple user interface
  • Supported by an All-In-One PC for service and diagnostics

Pilot phase in real-world operation

The applicator is currently in the pilot validation phase with selected customers. During this phase, we carry out only selected pilot installations, based on which we fine-tune the solution for final release. We are therefore registering additional interested parties on a waiting list and will contact them once the pilot phase has been concluded and capacity is available for subsequent installations.
